About Stud welder : 
CD Stud welder is an electric welding process in which high energy is supplied at joint for just for 1 to 3milli second, which results in an arc blast that fuses stud & base surface and a spring force instantly pushes stud towards base surface and the weld joint forms.
Why called “CD Stud Welder”?CD means “Capacitor Discharge”. In CD stud welder a capacitor bank is charged from 20 to 200 Volt according to stud size. When triggered, the stored energy in capacitors is discharged on weld area and the burst of electricity demolish gap pin on stud head and creates the molten pool. The gun pushes the stud down into the molten pool. (CD studs have a special pin on the head to maintain gap between stud & base-metal. The pin merges in weld pool during the weld.)
Why CD Stud welder?Studs can be weld with common welding process like: Manual arc, Mig or Tig welding. But CD stud welding is best process,which is different from conventional welding process due no weld bead around stud head and no stain on backside of base sheet...
Because stud head itself joined with base sheet hence no external material required which eliminates the cost of consumables. Stud welding is easy to operate than other type of welding machines.

Application: Cd stud welder performs best where 3 to 10 mm stud welding is required.
